Welcoming a new baby is one of the most beautiful and emotional moments in life. Those first few weeks fly by in a blur of feedings, snuggles, and sleepless nights, which is why capturing those tiny details while they’re still so new is truly priceless.
At Studio Cas, I recommend scheduling your newborn session while you’re still pregnant, ideally during your second trimester. This ensures we can reserve a spot on my calendar around your due date. Once your baby arrives, we’ll confirm your exact session date and create a relaxed, memorable experience for your family.
The Best Time for Newborn Photos
Newborn sessions are typically done within the first 7–14 days after birth. During this time, babies are extra sleepy and flexible, which allows for those sweet, curled-up poses that melt your heart. But don’t worry — if you miss that early window, beautiful newborn images are still absolutely possible! I adjust posing and the flow of your session to match your baby’s comfort level and age.
Why Newborn Sessions Are Priced Higher
Newborn sessions require a special level of care, time, and preparation. Unlike other sessions, I travel to your home anywhere in Southern Maryland and bring everything with me, including props, wraps, outfits, and a custom backdrop setup. This allows you to stay comfortable in your own space while I create a calm, baby-led environment designed for safety and beautiful results.
Newborn photography also takes more time both during and after the session. From gently soothing and posing your baby to carefully editing each image with attention to detail. Every part of the process is done with love and patience, ensuring your gallery reflects the tenderness of these once-in-a-lifetime moments.
